When it comes to Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Phumelela Gaming and Leisure is at the forefront of supporting communities in need. With CSI initiatives across various provinces, Phumelela strives to improve social development countrywide, aiding many worthy causes along the way.
A cause close to Phumelela’s heart is one of South Africa’s best-loved events – the CANSA Shavathon. That is why they decided to hold a two-day event at Turffontein Racecourse on Thursday and Friday, 1 and 2 March 2018.
Staff and community members made their way to the Shavathon venue, set up next to the parade ring, to show support by donating R50 for a head shave or colour spray.
“It’s such worthy cause and we wanted to show solidarity with those affected by cancer,” said Freda Moloi, Company Secretary for Phumelela. “We have been eager to get involved for some time and this year have done so with the help of all our partners, including our Executive Team, and for that we are extremely grateful,” Moloi was quick to add.
Samantha Stephenson, representing partner Supabets, was there to hand over a cheque for R50,000 in support of cancer fundraising.
A final audit of monies raised for this worthwhile cause will be conducted on Monday 5 March 2018.
